The OVERHEAT Project was presented at the 21st International Conference on Transport Science (ICTS) held on May 20-21, 2024, providing an overview of the project’s objectives and methodology.

The presentation, delivered by Full Professor Stefano Ricci (DITS), Dean of Transport Area and Director of Post-Master Specialist Course in Railway Infrastructures and Systems Engineering at Sapienza Università di Roma, focused on one of the project’s objectives, which aims to improve the safety of maritime container transport by developing innovative digital fire management solutions.

Professor Ricci highlighted the state-of-the-art in maritime container transport safety and the OVERHEAT approach to address the challenges faced by the industry. The presentation was well-received by the academic audience, with 30 attendees showing interest in the project’s progress and potential to revolutionize maritime safety.

The ICTS is an academic conference that focuses on advances in scientific research on transport systems, making it an ideal platform to share the OVERHEAT Project’s vision and objectives with the academic community.

Professor Ricci said, “The conference provided us with a valuable platform to engage with academics and share our innovative approach to improving maritime container transport safety.”

The OVERHEAT Project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe program and brings together a diverse group of partners from across Europe to develop cutting-edge solutions for preventing and combating fires on container ships.
