The Institute for Safety and Security Studies (ISaSS) at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences focuses on current research and development tasks for maintaining and improving safety and security in the public sector and in the economy. The institute deals with questions of risk analysis, risk management and the prevention of hazards and threats that have arisen through intentional actions (security) or without intention (safety).
ISaSS conducts national and international research projects, as well as projects funded by the European Union. The institute’s research focuses on enhancing resilience, maritime security, and criminological studies. With an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches, ISaSS brings together expertise from different fields to develop evidence-based solutions that can be implemented in practice. The institute’s research aims to make a positive impact on safety and security issues, both nationally and internationally.
ISaSS will focus on fire accident prevention and management on container ships in Europe, identifying best practices, assessing potential fire accident scenarios, and developing recommendations for end-users.
