From 28 January to 4 February 2026, Sapienza University of Rome hosted the “Winter International School on Design and Operation of Maritime Transport Sustainability”, an international initiative bringing together researchers and professionals working on the future of sustainable maritime transport.
Within this framework, OVERHEAT has been featured as a key example of innovation in maritime safety.
On 30 January 2026, the project was presented during a dedicated session, followed by a technical visit to IMAT facilities.
The session highlighted how OVERHEAT is developing advanced fire detection and management solutions for container ships, strengthening prevention capacities and supporting faster, more informed emergency response at sea.
The technical visit offered participants a direct view of the technologies and operational concepts underpinning the project, reinforcing OVERHEAT’s role in bridging research, innovation, and real-world maritime applications.
By contributing to high-level training and international knowledge exchange, OVERHEAT continues to position itself as a reference initiative in container ship fire prevention and maritime safety innovation.
